About
eBucks Rewards is FNB and RMB Private Bank's rewards programme that enables you to earn eBucks while taking care of the everyday tasks such as shopping, filling up with fuel, subscribing to streaming services or even keeping up your insurance premiums with FNB. You can spend the eBucks you earn on a range of products and services with our in–store and online spend partners or even plan a destination getaway with eBucks Travel. With eBucks Rewards, you save money every time you spend, allowing you to do more and get more for less.
The programme aims to drive healthy banking behaviour and money management principles across the following financial pillars: Transact, Lend, Invest, Insure, Home, Car, Telecoms and Lifestyle. eBucks is the only Financial Services programme in South Africa to provide rewards for both its Retail and Commercial Banking customers at no extra charge, via the FNB and RMB Private Bank App.
Background
Originally launched in October 2000 as a FirstRand Group business–to–consumer eCommerce initiative, today eBucks Rewards is one of South Africa's most aspirational rewards programmes, focused on delivering real and meaningful value to both partners and members alike.
It all began with a brave and adventurous vision, which was an inventive approach to eCommerce, based on innovation combined with the FirstRand business principles. In its first three years, eBucks Rewards fulfilled three main roles:
- a rewards programme for a number of partners,
- a cross-sell vehicle for the FirstRand Group and rewards programme partners,
- and a financial services portal for FNB and RMB Private Bank.
The growth was rapid and eBucks Rewards quickly established itself as South Africa's leading rewards programme. The Internet Banking Portal grew into a very successful channel for FNB and RMB Private Bank, whilst the cross–sell arm simultaneously brought new business revenue to eBucks Rewards' partners.
In February 2003, eBucks Rewards announced that it had become a profitable business eight months ahead of forecast.
Progress
With growth and development, came the need to re–structure the business in order to allow the separate arms to focus more clearly on their core competencies and customer value–add strategies. In July 2010, eBucks Rewards was formally integrated into FNB and FirstRand Bank Limited and currently operates as a business unit within the Retail Bank segment of FNB.
The eBucks Rewards Programme continues to focus on being South Africa's most rewarding multi–partner programme, gathering a multitude of substantial local and international accolades throughout the years. These awards attest to the significant value that eBucks Rewards consistently delivers through its commitment to providing meaningful value to customers, while making use of the most innovative solutions available to continue its upward trajectory in the Loyalty and Rewards industry.
